They left the dome in ashes.
The last survivors of The Eden Project had to leave the cursed planet behind venturing out beyond the reaches of the solar system into trillions of miles of uncharted space.
They drift silently across the never-ending night hoping to one day reach the next star system and begin their hunt for New Earth.
Days they keep busy maintaining life support systems. Nights they struggle to sleep. It’s always night in space and when their eyes are closed, the beasts can still hunt them.
When Gen awakens from months in deep sleep, she discovers that they are not alone out there in the dark and nightmares are far more terrifying when your eyes are open.

I read both books of this series in two days. The first book sets the background for what happens in this second book. I found the second book strangely disturbing. As I said in my review of Book 1 - don't get too attached to any of the characters. Some reviewers have called this a zombie book, but there are no zombies in the true sense of the word. The "infected" are alive, fast, cunning and lethal. The author has created a truly horrific no-win situation here. Even if they win the battle, can they really win the war - the continuation of the human species? This book feels conclusive but there is supposed to be another book after this. All I can imagine is that the "infected", or something else incredibly awful is going to show up next for these poor people to have to deal with! I can hardly wait to find out!Product details

Night Without End Book 2 of The Eden Project eBook DP Fitzsimons Reviews
The second book is about horror and hope. It is disturbing to think of a bunch of kids left in space to make adult decisions that could save or destroy our species. The fight to survive in this horror is amazing. This is an amazing piece of writing.
I only download free books. When I pay for one I generally like the hard copy/paperback. I purchase an ebook if I really like the first free one and want to see how the story continues. This book surprised me. I got very emotional toward the end! I think like so many people we want a positive happy ending, but what you get here is a realistic one where you see the pain of loss. I really liked Fitzsimmons' storyline. Different than all those vampire/zombie cliche stories. It was more about the survival of humanity and sacrifice. The ending packed a punch! I look forward to reading the second one!
Two air crafts both looking for a place to live and keep humanity alive no matter what. Will they both survive? Never thought the story would turn out this way. I enjoyed it was a late nighter, no boring parts at all. I really felt for the characters can't wait to read Trumpet's Song to see how it continues.
This book was beautiful and sad and heroic. What a burden for those children to hold onto. Survive, the first mandate, but yet their morality almost made that impossible.
Love it. We follow the groups that made it out of the dome and into space. I can't say too much without giving away the story. Just know that they have a few problems and have to try and overcome them. I will be reading the next in the series.
I still can't quite explain why this series works for me. Sure, I'm a dystopian sci-fi fan, but most of the other elements are not up my alley (love stories, zombies). Somehow, though, this series is more than the sum of its parts and I really enjoyed it.
There are some issues (most of which I can't mention without spoilers), but in general this was another winner for me. I waited on pins and needles for it to come out and wasn't disappointed. I'd rate it 4 or 4.5 stars just for the small problems I had with it, but am rounding up to 5 in appreciation of self-published authors who are not just excellent writers, but also do an excellent job with editing -- and because it left me feeling satisfied with the conclusion. (There will be another volume according to the author.)
I loved every page of this book, and I am so mad that I now have to wait for the next one! I wasn't crazy about the first book but I wanted to read the second because I needed to know what happened to Adam, Zeke, Gen, and the others. Wow! Fitzsimons blew it out of the ballpark with this book! I must say the sequel was MUCH better than the first book. I wonder if it was because the first book all built up to this second book?
Okay now for some spoilers, so if you haven't read stop here okay?
We start this book on a journey. Each of these ships are moving apart from one another off to find new worlds. We see a tragic love story of Adam and Gen both on different ships with different intended mates moving further away from each other. I am sad at their love yet inspired. They loved each other from so far away. Yet, each tried to make the situation they were faced with better. They had to lead by example after all. They left earth behind with so much tragedy yet had to strike forward. Both ships and their commanders fell prey to a trick that the zombie like creatures had played on them in order to gain access to the ships, and in the end only three lived. I wont say who because if you are reading this and haven't read the book I don't want to give it away. What I will say though is WOW!
I can't believe how different this book was compared to the first, but in a good way. I loved it and can't wait to read more!!!
